Since 2005, Farm to School and Early Care programs around the state of Minnesota have been working to bring local and minimally-processed foods to the 80 percent of students who get their lunches at school or child care settings.
Farm to School programs link children to nearby small and mid-size farms and ranches that produce fresh, healthy and minimally processed foods that are served in school meals. Aimed at educating children about how and where their food is grown, strengthening local economies and supporting healthy eating habits, the Farm to School movement is good for kids, good for farmers and good for communities!
